So I was minding my own business, looking online for a larger or better version of this promo photo of Boom Shaka:
And I was using Google image search, as one does. But the search results came back like so:
Yes, that says, “Best guess for this image: chimpanzee”
And they’ve made “chimpanzee” bold and italic so you don’t miss it. Here’s a link to the search so you can see it for yourself. (Now that this post has been indexed, the image doesn’t match “chimpanzee” anymore.)
Now, I’m not one to go looking for biases or isms where they don’t exist, but this one — I don’t even know what to say. Except: Dear Google, black people are not chimpanzees.
